The kids were put in charge of their own work assignments this week. A brief meeting was held and then they divided up.

A lot of effort was spent working on building attachments and coding solutions to individual mission challenges.

We also drafted a contact email to a professor who uses LIDAR for field research and discussed several questions to ask. A lot of discussion went into which questions to ask.

As coach, I led them to consider, given a limit of only three questions, making sure we only asked questions that directly addressed our problem. (The last question is probably one of the best to ask.) I think they aren't quite sure what specifically their problem is and so we weren't able to settle on the questions to ask before we ran out of time. But we had a lot of good discussion about both our problem and the best questions. We'll continue work next week if the kids don't before then.

We also took a break mid-session to each give a brief SCR (situation, complications, resolution) presentation about what they'd worked on for the first half. I think some realized that they hadn't really done much at this point, and that refocused their efforts.

We finished with a celebration of the mission challenges accomplished, "ruthless" criticism of what didn't work, and ideas to innovate (improve) their performance.
