Session 5 - 9/1 - Work Continues

Last session the kids selected their Innovation Project focus, something to do with terrestrial LIDAR for forestry research. This was done after a lot of research into alternatives, an evaluation of these alternatives via their selected criteria, and then team consensus on a selection. We'll need to work on a well-defined Problem Statement to clarify our search for an innovative solution and documenting that process.
The kids also selected a base robot design by improving upon last year's design. We'll also need to make sure we document our process for that decision.
With only an hour left, the kids also began working hard on coming up with attachments and solutions to the various mission challenges, while RP worked on the base driving code that will be used by all teammates to code individual mission programs.
We're off to a great start!
This coming session I will remind them to record data and documentation for their presentations and provide a brief coding lesson on a topic of their choice, have them research mechanisms online, and do some more presentation practice. Hopefully we'll be able to start coding some individual missions, too.
