Session 8 - 9/22 - Contacting Researchers

Today we will have a video call with Prof. Ayman Habib of Perdue University to learn about their backpack LIDAR scanner!
We've also made contact with a local arborist, Andrew of Green Shepherd LLC; a forestry officer from the U.S. Forest Service; and another researcher from Perdue from the same backpack LIDAR team. Andrew will come to speak to us on 10/6, and I hope to arrange calls with the other two as well so the kids can learn more about forestry, tree surveys, and how they relate to studies of forest health and biodiversity.
We also need to learn more about LIDAR scanners, so I'll encourage them to find and contact some LIDAR vendors to learn more about how they work and what's needed to operate them.
We'll also continue work on the robotics challenges.
There will be no meeting 9/29 as I will be on vacation.
I have added two sessions (9.1, 9.2) on 10/13 and 10/20 for half the team while the other half is on their vacation. We'll do some dedicated coding lessons and tackle some custom challenges and perhaps a couple of the missions that haven't yet been tried.
