Tenth Session: Tue 10/28
Session Nine Notes
The entire session was spent working on refining solutions to robot game challenges, and starting work on additional solutions. Lots of good progress. We took a brief break mid-session to go over the judging process and rubrics.
Session Ten
At a parent's suggestion, we'll begin with creating an evaluation and decision-making process for our innovation challenge. Then we'll brain-storm solution ideas. After this, we'll apply our evaluation process to select a solution to refine.
We'll also review our plan for the next few sessions.
After that, I expect they'll want to work on refining solutions to the robot game.
Coach Notes
I anticipate that we'll attend either the Londonderry or Manchester qualifier to observe. I will reach out to the organizers to see if one venue is better than the other for our purpose. See the home page for links to the info about our qualifier at Hypertherm.
We have four weeks remaining to:
finalize our robot game attachments and code
finalize our operating sequence and plan and load it into one robot
practice running our robot through our plan
prepare our robot design presentation
select an innovation challenge solution
reach out to some experts to help refine our idea
create a drawing/diagram/model of our idea
prepare our presentation
Will we get it all done? Maybe! But we're still having fun and learning.
I am trying to set up a meetup with another local team, possibly a Wednesday afternoon, since they can't meet on Tuesdays. Nothing specific yet determined.
